April Fool's jokes tend to be uniformly lame. I really look forward to the day ending so I don't have to wade through a ton of dumb stories. (I have a weird feeling that Google Paper might end up as a real offering based on customer demand.)
However, the guys at SecurityLab.ru delivered the best April Fool's joke of the day. I wrote about them last year. They get my vote for best joke because they coordinated two cross site scripting "attacks" in an intelligent manner. ("Attacks" is in quotes because it's not really malicious. Sure, you can use XSS to do real damage, but that's not what's happening here.)
Not only did tennis player Maria Sharapova "announce" on her Web site that she's earned her CCIE, Cisco did too. According to the "story" she's going to work for the DoD, but apparently whatever agency will employ her is keeping the news to itself. Smart move.
