How to fix the popup flash on your camera (Canon DSLR)

Here is the problem:

You are trying to take a photo with your Canon DSLR camera. Turn the camera off and on again).

Cooking Banana Bread in a Rice Cooker

One thing I have noticed in China is that I have had to be a bit more creative here when it comes to cooking. I can't use a full size oven, so I have to make due with a toaster oven. I have been on a banana bread craze and while looking for better ways to cook it I came up with a pretty neat method: cooking it in a rice cooker.

Make your own low (or zero) calorie soda pop

I have always been a huge fan of making home made root beer. It is super fun and easy, but more importantly, it is super delicious.

The concept for making root beer is this: Buy root beer concentrate and mix it with sugar and water then add dry ice to give it the carbonation. Easy.

So one day while I was making root beer, I decided to try an experiment. I started putting dry ice in other drinks and found that it was amazing!

Want to make zero calorie soda? Find some zero calorie Crystal Light and add dry ice to it. Want to make an amazing fruit drink? Add dry ice to it. Want to make your favorite Kool-Aid flavor into soda? Add dry ice to it.
I think you get the point. Making soda out of different flavors of drink is fun and delicious!

Making the ultimate exercise equipment on the cheap!

Exercise equipment is great, but can have a lot of drawbacks. To name a few, exercise equipment is a bother to move around, takes up space in the home, and is expensive. I prefer to use dumbbells for weight lifting but at about $1/lb it can get expensive to upgrade my weights. Not only that, but I find that since I move around a lot, lugging the dumbbells around is not very practical.

I have decided to solve this problem by making the ultimate exercise equipment!

Some tips for hand made cards

Growing up, I remember my older brother was always really good at making cards. I don't remember if he actually taught me how to make cards, or if I just picked it up from watching him make them, but I have also come to enjoy the art of card making. It is something that can be somewhat time consuming, but I think it means a lot more to someone that you spent the time to make something yourself than you going out and buying something.

I don't claim that my cards are anything super fantastic; it is just something I enjoy. Here are some tips for different things I do that might help you out when you decide how to make your own personalized cards.

How to clean your vehicle's headlights - Use toothpaste

Before

After

For the longest time I have thought that my headlights looked very dim and that I could probably clean my headlight covers to remedy this. Yesterday I decided to do something about it.

There are many products you can buy to do this. I am cheap and lazy so I decided to do it another way.

This is actually super easy and relatively quick to do. Searching on Google, I found people using toothpaste doing the same thing here and here and here and here and here and here. So I figured it would be worth a shot.

Fix the flash on the Nikon D70 DSLR

This morning I fixed my girlfriends pop-up flash on her Nikon D70 camera. I decided to document the ordeal hopefully to help others with this problem (seems to be a poor design on Nikon's part). First of all; shout-out to Steve and Tony for posting on how to fix this problem. The primary reason for this blog post is to give more in-depth info on what is going on and provide an alternate solution to fix the problem.

The Problem(s):
The flash does not pop up or go off when the shutter button is pressed.

The Solution:
First, you should go to Steve's blog post to see how to take the camera apart. His post is great and very well may fix your problem.

These are made up component names...
The parts we will be looking at to fix the flash are the plastic rod, the metal hook for the contact switch and the contact switch.
